About

Gloria is known as ‘The Weird Fish Lady’ – as she speaks about weird fish. (She’s not a weird lady – although her family and friends might say otherwise.) She got the name from visiting schools to present ‘Ocean Adventure Days’. Gloria visits Primary Schools, talks to groups of all ages, and writes books to help everyone learn the importance of Oceans. (See the Oceans page on this website.)
Gloria is passionate about science, particularly ocean studies and climate change. Her extensive knowledge and expertise in these fields make her an exceptional speaker and author for all age groups. Gloria’s love for the natural world is infectious. Her 30 years of experience exploring the world’s oceans as a master scuba diver, sailor, and underwater videographer has given her a practical understanding of the sea and its inhabitants.
She has been a strong advocate for conservation for many years and written an awarding-winning range of books, including non-fiction guides on oceans and climate change, as well as children’s fiction for 3-6 year olds and environmental/adventure fiction for 8-13 +.
Gloria has worked as a teacher and educational advisor, developing teaching materials for the UK national curriculum. She travels the world lecturing and teaching young and old about our planet and its amazing sea life.
